Because French doorways and bi-folding doorways can swing at
one for reds, consideration should be provided to the stress on hinges when the
door is heavy, therefore there's a set limit on every door width, most likely
no more than about one metre. Sliding doorways remain completely inside the
bottom and top runners and, therefore, aren't susceptible to exactly the same
constraints. It might be easy to install a set of sliding doorways, each one of
these possibly four, five or possibly as much as six ft across, with narrow
frames.
The vista when closed is much better compared to bi-folding doorways
but, within the better weather whenever you may need maximum access between
your house and garden, 1 / 2 of the access is blocked through the doorways.
